I once read a biography about Coco Chanel, and one thing that stuck in my mind is a sentence which I will not try to quote exactly, but instead bring it to life from my own memory. It went something like this: When one is dressed elegantly one can feel a peace only equaled by a religious experience. Throughout my life I have witnessed many instances of this being true. Take for example a tasteless bride. No matter how hideous the dress she is wearing is, everyone will say she looks beautiful! It isn’t the dress, but it is her own convictions: she feels elegant, and everyone else perceives that too! It’s quite a trick! And only brides and very few other people can pull it off outside of a wedding chapel! My list of the most elegant women in Second Life are: 10. Kay Fairey: Kay and I have lots of discussions about fashion, and even though we may not always agree, kay is one of the few who is always recognizable no matter what color hair she is wearing! (Even purple!) And she is always beautiful to look at.
09. Devine Hunt: This glamazone is hard to miss! Devine combines elements that only look good on her, and she does it like an expert! Try to imitate Devine, and you will fail because she is quite aware of who she is and only she can pull her style off. And that's real elegance in my book!
08. Breezie Noel: Our very own BOSL Editor makes this list because she receives more gowns from designers than any other person I know, and yet she manages to do them justice every single time! You need to be very elegant in RL and SL to pull this off.
07. dancer Dallagio: dancer stepped up her styling game during the MISS VIRTUAL WORLD competition and I have a feeling she is here to stay. Very classic, very elegant and very well put together.
06. Sabine Blackburn: Look a bit into Sabine’s eyes and she paints a picture! I love how she can be wearing the ugliest creation and yet still look so very beautiful.
05. Mui Mukerji: Mui only shows one side of her, and that is Nicky Ree’s haute Couture. But when she shows up anywhere she is just a walking style master class!
04. Mimmi Boa: It doesn’t matter what Mimmi is wearing, you can almost hear the clicks coming from other models wondering where she got all that. But they don’t ever find out, because Mimmi is the goddess of mix-and-match styling, and she is always perfectly right!
03. Melanie Sautereau: Melanie makes my number 3 spot because this girl can actually wear a helicopter on her head and still be fabulous! I don’t know anyone else who can do this without looking like a cartoon! Aside from the combining, mixing and matching, there is a sense of fashion and glamour that is actually palpable when this lady enters a room. I love her fashion style because she takes LOTS of risks but defends them in the best possible way.
I remember her well because she was the first one to show me how Halloween can be the most glamorous time of the year! Yep, she is that good! 02. Sora Tatham: MISS VIRTUAL WORLD 2010’s 1st runner up would be Second Life’s Carolina Herrera if she was a designer. There isn’t one thing out of place with this girl ever! She makes my number 2 spot because she is one of those I can’t stop looking at, and for a gay man that is quite a statement! Simply perfect in every way.
01. Miaa Rebane: The new MISS VIRTUAL WORLD is understated elegance. Valentino once said that chic is actually very simple, and I have a feeling he would most definitely find a great example of this in Miaa. It’s very easy to stand out being different, but very hard to do so when you are wearing the same as everyone else. Give the same dress to 100 models and bring them in the same room with Miaa and she will stand out even if she is hiding in the farthest little corner! Elegant and beautiful combined is a rare trade, and Miaa is it!
