Current Kiosk - Watch for new release soon!
Honey Fairweather of FashCon depends on the Kiosk.Net system to help manage over 1,600 members in her fashion directory. It is the most up-to-date and largest directory of fashion in SL today. Sasun Steinbeck, the creator of the Kiosk.Net system, uses it to manage her list of 650 art galleries in SL, helping connect art lovers to art galleries across the grid. The system has distributed hundreds of thousands of items and is by far the most popular choice for magazine publishers in SL today. And now it's far, far better.
The future of enterprise products in SL is web integration, and Kiosk.Net is now fully web integrated. Data about each Kiosk network is stored internally on a robust, reliable SQL Server database, allowing Kiosk.Net server customers to get extremely valuable data and reports about all of their kiosks across the grid, from anywhere. Data available to Kiosk.Net server owners includes the following standard data for each kiosk: kiosk owner profile link, SLURL to the kiosk, parcel name, description, and size, kiosk click totals, and location rating. In addition to the standard parcel data collected, you can configure your kiosks to collect any additional data you want - any info you want your customers to specify when they configure their kiosks can be collected and displayed on your custom kiosk adminstration page.
Kiosk network owners also have data available to them on which of their kiosks is getting the most clicks per year, month, week, or day, available on the administration website, in simple bar chart format. This will help you see which of your locations are the most valuable in terms of reaching your customers.
The kiosks operate in multiple, dynamically updateable modes which can be changed via settings at the server, at any time. All kiosks will automatically change modes to adapt to your needs. The new improvements give you more power on how you distribute mutiple items, giving your customers more choices right from your kiosks.
Kiosk modes include:
- 1) Cycle mode, which cycles a configurable number of textures on the kiosk, on a timer (from 10 seconds on up to any length of time). Specific items are given out depending on what texture the user clicks.
- 2) Cyclearrow mode, which cycles your textures using left and right navigation arrows - all done with NO additional prims on the kiosk.
- 3) Auto button mode, which rezzes and arranges prim buttons on a grid automatically with different textures on them that give out different objects, as defined by you.
- 4) Virtual button mode, which allows you to lay out as many clickable buttons as you like that give out different objects, but all on a single prim. A special tool is provided to help you very easily define virtual buttons for your kiosk.
The system also comes with a Tour HUD that you can distribute to your customers with all of your kiosk locations in it. Using the HUD is a fun way to encourage more people to visit your kiosk locations.
Included in the system is a powerful location rating system. Customers can rate kiosk locations by clicking the special rating stars on the kiosks, or on the tour HUDs as they visit your kiosk locations. These ratings are also forwarded automatically to the metaLIFE platform (other platforms such as b-Places are currently in the works) to get maximum exposure of your kiosk locations across SL. Customres can also submit a full-text review of your kiosk locations, which are also fowarded to metaLIFE.
As well as being able to view all your kiosks on the Kiosk.Net website at http://sasun.info at any time, included in the package is a set of tools to help you download and process your database into other forms that you will find useful. You can easily convert your report dump to: 1) a plain text format so that you can distribute notecards in-world containing your directory of kiosk locations. 2) Formatted HTML that you can use to publish your directory on a website/blog (see http://sl-artgalleries.blogspot.com for an example). 3) Location data for your tour HUD so that you can keep them up to date (a HUD updater is included so that customers can receive automatic HUD updates).
The system also includes a basic group subscription service. Customers can simply click the "subscribe now" button on the kiosks to join your own (non-SL) group associated with your kiosk network. They can also remove themself from the group and see a history of messages and objects to be redelivered at any time, from any kiosk. No need to pay for an external group service - it's included for free.
You also have tools to easily IM or send objects to all of your kiosk owners so that you can communicate with and manage as a special group as well.
Each kiosk has two optional buttons to help promote your business:
- 1) Teleport to a specific location such as your headquarters
- 2) pop up a webpage to your website. These buttons will be instrumental for generating direct teleport traffic to a location of your choice and web page views to help your business.
The system is scalable and can handle thousands of kiosks with just one server. No need to split networks, it can handle the load. Grow with confidence!
The system has a triple redundancy feature so that it is impossible to destroy your network if you lose a server. Every kiosk is web-integrated so if you lose your server in some disaster, your network can easily switch over to a new server and continue functioning, no matter what.
Kiosk script upgrades, should that ever become necessary due to bugs or added features in future versions that you may want to take advantage of, are simple for your customers. All they need to do is drop a special supplied upgrader object near their kiosks, and they will upgrade automatically. That's it. It doesn't get any simpler. No need to replace kiosks.
The system supports a paid kiosk subscription model. Customers can pay a regular fee to keep the kiosk functioning if you are providing some kind of service, such as membership in your directory or regular distribution of valuable items via the kiosks.
*Everything* above is configurable AT THE SERVER. You can change and manage ALL of the features above by making configuration notecard changes at your server at any time.
The system comes in a "Standard" version as well that does not include many of the features above. I'm too tired right now to write up the differences so stay tuned :)
Stay tuned for more announcements as we approach a release date for this exciting release - version 7 of the SasTech Kiosk.Net system!
